How can I remove writings on new wood of a new deck so that I can paint it with clear paint?

We have a new deck and we would like to paint it with a clear paint. But there are some green and also black writings on wood specifying the type of the pine. How can I clean them so that they don't show under the clear paint? Painters coming in a few hours and I tried couple of things but didn't work. its only an ink stamp-- most likely you deck is pressure treated lumber or cedar-- its just the mill grading stamp- light 80-100 grit sandpaper on a wood block will work, but if you have a large deck, you may want to buy an inexpensive palm or better yet , random orbiting sander ( $30-45) plus paper-- How can I remove writings on new wood of a new deck so that I can paint it with clear paint?
INSTRUCT YOUR PAINTERS TO REMOVE THE GREEN AND BLACK WRITINGS, AS PART OF THEIR WORK. If they say No, then immediately contact the nearest lumber company and ask a paint department employee, call two if you need a comforting second opinion. I JUST THINK THE PAINTERS, IF GOOD AND IF PROFESSIONAL, SHOULD TAKE CARE OF THAT ITEM FOR YOU:)

Since you do not have a lot of time to try different things, I would go with a light sanding. This ';writing'; is probably just a stamping and not embedded into the wood. good luck with it

The painters may be prepared to take it out for you

The wood is porous, so thinners will not work. The only way to get rid of the markings is sanding them off.
Gentle Sandpaper.
Try lightly sanding it, but most people just leave it..
Sand it off with sandpaper
try spirit, paint thinner on it. if it still they use sand paper and rubber it..


then coated with wax and paint it
use a palm sander with really fine sandpaper
