wait 30 days before waxing it, you can use MeGuires spray detailer to polish the paint right now with a microfiber cloth as that will make it really shine and won't hurt the paint, after 30 days get a bottle of 3-M imperial hand glaze from a body shop and use that on the paint once a year and then wax it with MeGuires gold class wax.
newly painted?

as in

brand new car

or older car that was recently painted

you cant wax a freshly painted car for 90 days, you have to let the gases escape..

Would i have glow in the dark nail polish if i mixed glo in the dark paint (for walls) and clear nail polish?

use acrylic paint. it comes in little containers for 89 cents a piece at walmart. get glow in the dark. it works. the only thing is, its not shiny like regular nail polish. you will have to paint clear over it to make it shiny.

wall paint will peel as the other answerer said because of the latex baseWould i have glow in the dark nail polish if i mixed glo in the dark paint (for walls) and clear nail polish?
SImply put, thats a terrible idea.

Generally wall paint is latex, and I wouldn't suggest painting your nails with it. I'm sure they sell glow in the dark nail polish, it would be in your best interest to find and buy the legitimate product rather than resorting to such wild thinking and/or methods.

Girls, would you care if a boy asked to paint his toes clear every two weeks with you?

Should i sand touchup paint before clear coat?

i have just had a go at painting the roof of my car with 3-4 cans of touch up paint after sanding all over.

i am ready to clear coat, but the red coat looks blotchy like spray paint does..

should i sand or buff the red paint before clear coating?

if so, how dry does it have to be before buffing/sanding.?

if i do sand, does that mean washing the sanded paint off before the clear goes on?

cheers, as you can see im new to this.Should i sand touchup paint before clear coat?
it's hard to answer some of this without seeing it but here it goes. the normal process whether you're using a sophisticated paint gun or a spray can, is to take the shine off of the existing surface. 600 grit sandpaper is a safe grit for any type of paint you would be spaying, although some paints would not require it to be this fine. wash the surface with water and dry. wipe the surface down with wax and grease remover, and tack the surface with a tack cloth. spray at a consistant distnace and speed overlapping each spray pattern by about 1/2 it's width. a general distance from the surface to the nozzle is about the length between your spred thumb tip to little finger tip. apply several coats, some colors take more to acheive hiding, you don't need more paint than what is necessary to achieve total hiding and even coverage. if you have roughness, dirt, or imperfections you may sand them down with water and 600 grit paper, base coat dries fast, you can probably do this within 30 minutes. clean and dry the surface and apply one more even coat. within 24 hrs. clear, if you waited longer than this you have to scuff the surface again, (and probably give one more light even coat). the base coat will not look impressive, it will be dull, but the clear will bring it to life. blotchiness can be caused by uneven application, varying distance or speed, not enough coats, moisture, improper preparation, poor agitation, and a host of others. you probably will get a small amout of unevenness because you not using precision high quality equipement. the clear needs to be applied wet, idealy 2 coats. apply it evenly and don't allow dry spots, if you have a dry streak spray more on it right away, you can't wait till you get to the other side and come back, then you will have 2 dry spots. basically, apply as thick as you can without it running, twice.Should i sand touchup paint before clear coat?
100% yes

3-4 canz is too little.

allow some period of time drying before first, second and third coat.

ok. You spray the paint as even as possible until You see the surface bright-wet and no more( in the fisrt coat you don't see any paint only the wet-shine stop there) . paint the piece of metal(have a piece if metal beside de car you painting) let the paint dry to the touch (test by touching the piece of metal) never touch the car, apply the second coat in the same manner as the first.let it dry to the touch, and so forward until the paint show an even color.

rockie stuff.....if You see a running drop in the painting do not touch do not fix, let it dry and apply the next coat over it.

fixes will be the next week.

the more coats the more time allow for dry to the touch.(alway test the piece of metal first)
First, use a fine grit sand paper to smooth out the paint, (this will make the last clear-coat stick better). Next, wash the area and allow 4-6 hours to dry. Apply the clear-coat to the smooth area, making sure to overlap onto the original paint to blend in. Usually you want at least a couple of coats for best results, let dry for a day then buff. Hope this helps........

From the pictures your clear is gone on a couple of places and the color is showing through. You cannot just spray clear over it you need to reapply color over the areas that are showing through. Not only the clear but the color is sun damaged as well. Go to the body shop and get an estimate. They will paint the roof and trunk to put color and clear back over the areas that are faded because of the UV rays.Your looking at about $500 to $800 depending on where you go.

To add a comment about what sleepy said about spraying color on without clear on it. If you find a body shop that does that you are in the wrong place. You are only going to run in to the same problem that you have now. Clear has a UV protectant in it to prevent the sun from damaging the paint. Unfortunately back in the 80's They were trying to save money and put less coats of clear on the cars and........well you see the problem. Putting color on your car without clear will not look good it will have a very dull finish. Will wet sanding and reapplying clear coat to my paint make it look better; more info inside. (10 PTS!)?
If you are going to sand and clear coat, I think you will be wasting time and money. Once you start sanding, you will find yourself cutting into the actual paint and I can almost guarantee you will cut more paint than you want and will need to apply a color coat anyway. I would only be guessing as to the price where you are at. Shop around for a complete paint job and not just a clearcoat. The sanding, prepping, and masking are all labor intensive. Spend the extra $$$ if you can and get a basecoat/clearcoat. A urethane enamal will cost a little bit more but will last a lot longer than the straight enamal most shops do their cheap paint jobs with.

If you dont want to spend the $$$ due to it's age, you might go a little cheaper and get a paint job without the clear. The drawback to this is your car is metalic and if you scratch it or need to buff it, the metalics will move in the paint and you wont be happy with the look. Some shops will paint a metalic without a clearcoat; I wont.

I have a car with the same problem and dont want to spend the $$$ on it and I can do it way cheap as I can do the work myself. My opinion is kind of like yours; it's a 94 and is it worth spending a bunch of cash on it?

Okay, after all that--I don't think you will be happy with just a clearcoat.
It wouldn't hurt to try wet sanding to see if the whitish spots regain color. If they do, you will need to wet sand the whole car before applying a clear coat to the whole car.

What kind of clear coat is good for a fresh painted dresser?

I just painted a dresser for my daughter's nursery and I didn't sand it first. ( i know.. rookie move) I wanted to paint a clear coat over top of it to give it a little more protection but I also don't want it to ';eat away'; at the paint (as I'm afraid polyurethane will). It's a semi-gloss paint. Any help is much appreciated...ThanksWhat kind of clear coat is good for a fresh painted dresser?
True you should have prepped the surface, however, if the paint is thoroughly dry, a clear latex polyurethane should not disturb the paint, regardless if the coat of paint you used is oil or latex base. I used a lear exterior on porch furniture last year that I did not primer and technically didn't require sanding. I have two years now exposed to the weather indirectly and there is no sign of wear, chipping or cracking of the painted surface. What kind of clear coat is good for a fresh painted dresser?
The clear coat will not eat away at the paint, but your final product will hold better if you wait two weeks, then sand lightly with wetted 400-grit wet-and-dry sandpaper to remove the gloss. Apply three coats of clear coat, sanding with the wet-and-dry sandpaper between coats unless the poly has a matte finish.
for the best option take the name of the semi gloss paint to a trade store and ask for advice. normally you would not need to apply additional protection to a semi gloss in a nursery. if you are really worried about durability, repaint with a full gloss.

    Clear coat over factory paint?

I have a 31year old motorcycle. The paint is still in pretty good shape as are the factory decals. I was wondering if I could touch up the small nicks and scratches, sand it with some 1600 wet and dry and shoot it with a couple coats of new clear coat. Seems to me that this would freshen the old girl up. Would this work or am I missing something?Clear coat over factory paint?
If your bike is that old, it may have not had clear originally but in any case putting clear over it now should make it look a little sharper. You were right in sanding before painting and be careful not to sand too hard.Clear coat over factory paint?
    Try buffing it first.

Thinking about touching up sratchs and paint chips, then clear coating it?

I got a nasty key along three pannels of my jetta. Disgruntaled girl friend? I dunno :| There are other paint chips, and such along the car as well. I dont have much cash, so i was thinking about buffing out the areas that need work, using some touchup spray paint, and then reclear coating the entire car. I can get clear coats down at cost from a budy of mine.

What do you think the final outcome would like?

    Thanks

MattThinking about touching up sratchs and paint chips, then clear coating it?
Doing touchup will never have anywhere near close results to repairing and repainting the panels. At the very least, go to a reputable auto body shop for an estimate, and make a decision there. Touchup at the shop may be free or cost you just a few bucks, but at least will be done by folks who are in the repair business, so end results may be better.Thinking about touching up sratchs and paint chips, then clear coating it?
Touched up key strokes always show up. It's hard to get the same paint consistency without painting the whole part. Unless the scratches look really unsightly, I would leave them alone until I can get the entire part(s) sprayed. Also, If you are going to reclear coat the entire car, why not just spray it?

  • I painted my nails a clear polish, what do you people think?

Hi everyone, i am straight male, 16 yrs old, and i like to paint my nails a clear polish. I keep them well kept. So far no one has said anything to me about them in school but i did notice one of the guys in one of my classes followed my example. I saw him wearing clear nail polish too, which i thought was kind of neat, to quite possibly lead a revolution of nail polish on guys. What are your ideas on all of this?I painted my nails a clear polish, what do you people think?
Straight men never used to take purses. Now you see bags men carry. When I was young no straight male would wear earrings.

Now some men use makeup as well. Clear nail polish can keep things neat. But I'll clue you in on something: get a manicure and have clear polish put on. It will last a very long time.

You can buy your own buffer and nail kit. Sometimes just buffing gives as much sheen as clear polish.I painted my nails a clear polish, what do you people think?
To be honest I think its sorta wierd but it wouldnt affect my opinion on a guy and if noone said anything about it then its fine. and plus you should feel comlimented b/c everyone else is doing it! your a trendsetter!
good on you, it's nice to see a chap look after himself and well kept hands and nails is good so long as the nails are short.
I don't know that 'metrosexuality' is a revolution.

The advice to buff is good. Nail polish chips, and does not look good unless very, very well-maintained -- and 'high maintenance' anything is rarely attractive.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Metrosexual

    http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.ph鈥?/a>
I think it's good to want to look nice as a straight male. Your influence only leads to better hygeine in others.
I think you do whatever you want. I mean painting your fingernails isn't just a girl thing. Boys can do it too if they want. Who know you might have just started a revolution.
I think it is good for people to groom themselves in a way that makes them feel good about themselves. Good for you!
What is the point of painting your nails? It has nothing to do with being gay or straight, it just doesn't really serve any purpose for a guy. Maybe you should get a French manicure for Winter Formal?
You go right ahead, but I won't do it and you can't make me.
Now I feel old. I guess I'm old fashioned. I don't think I could ever be attracted to a male who painted his fingernails. Get a buffing kit. It will make your nails shiny and smooth without paint. Kind of fun to do too.
To be frank, you have serious issues. True men don't wear makeup - unless they are in the film industry. And even then it is stuff for their faces - not nail polish.

Sorry if I insulted you, but you wanted my opinion.

I'd sooner die than wear makeup.
its really weird cause guys shouldnt be caring so much about their nails. but i guess its fine.
Im sorry but thats just creepy.
    im not here to judge,

but i think u havent come out of the closet yet.

But if thts not the case, than maybe u can lead a revolution of nail polish on guys

    -mee
    I think it's good.

Nail polish (along with any type of makeup) is sexy on guys.

    ((Long story.....))
I think you would like the LOGO Channel
There is nothing wrong with you wearing clear nail polish. I wish more men gave a crap about there nails, like keeping them clean and trimed with nail trimmers not by bitting them.
    I think it demonstrates a great deal of self-respect. My father kept his hands and nails well groomed and in my interpretation it says quite simply. ';I care about taking good care of myself. I'm not a sloppy person.';
Its fine, but next time buy a buffer. A buffer makes your nails really shiny without wearing nail polish and they work great!
i think its cool that you arent afraid to try new things and that you care about how you look. but i do think wearing nail polish goes a bit too far.... its like guys wearing tight pants... its just not something i find attractive.
I think its great! I love when men take care of themselves and I have been noticing alot more men in the salon getting facials, pedicures and manicures.Keep it up

Will the clear coat on my newly painted car get shinnier as I buff it?

I just had my car painted, and the clear coat is REALLY uneven. Some spots are really nice, while other spots are blotchy, and dull. The guy who painted me car told me the more I buff it with a buffer and wax, the dullness will eventually become shinny. Is he right? I dint really trust him, because he has lied to me many times before. Will the clear coat on my newly painted car get shinnier as I buff it?
    well

gloss comes from a smooth even surface

so, technically, with a buffer, you will be smoothing the surface down each time you use it

however, he shouldve wetsanded the car after he painted it.

if he didnt do that, which it sounds like he didnt

then i doubt its ever gonna be shinyWill the clear coat on my newly painted car get shinnier as I buff it?
If the paint is fresh, it is generally suggested that you wait a while, I am guessing that they did not use a UV light to cure it, I would not touch it for months in that case.

And the only way you might cure some of that unevenness is to use a cutting compound to actually removing some of it, wax only covers. Further, could it be possible that the clear coat was not mixed right in which case it might not work?

My question is, did a) your insurance company send you there b) are they part of a chain? If either, complain.
I'm a painter by trade and can see that your question has not been answered. The clear will not improve with anything you can do.It needs to be professionally water sanded smooth then buffed with rubbing compound. This is something we always do unless the car is not worth the trouble,it's a lot of hard work. This guy is hoping you will go away, sorry.
first wait at least few weeks for clear to cure. Here the most important step for a Professional look. Get some wet sand paper 1500 grit mix little dish soap with water and start sanding car in a strait motion action not in circles. Then use a variable speed buffer with a sponge pad with polishing compound. Start buffing until desired shine. Note do not use high speed to do this procedure it will damage paint. Start with low settings for best results
how many coats of clear did they put on? i used 3 coats on my vette and buffed it to get any over spray that dried to fast. there is a wrong way to apply clear coat,

was any hardener used in it? was it thinned to much? was it applied to heavy?what was the air temp and humidity?

if the base coat turned out ok dont despair you can cut the clear coat down and reapply a nice even clear again.
He lied to you. The clear coat should be as shiny as its going to get. He did a bad paint job. If you paid him to paint the car demand that he sand the clear coat down smooth and apply a good coating of clear coat.
get a soft sanding block and 2000 grit sand paper. Keep wet at all times and wet-sand the car in wide, even sweeping motions and it will become very shiny and glossy
Well if it is kind of spoty then buffing it may work but it will take a real good buffing just make sure you do not put swirl markis in it especialy if its new paint it is real soft
Newly Painted? NO!... It Will Wear On It. If Anything Try To Make The Car Evenly Blotchy And Dull Or Take It Back For A Better Job. Don't Buff.

If I Paint My Fingernails and Toenails in Clear Nail Polish, will the be a red flag that I'm gay?

I was just wondering, because I did the toes, but am a little worried if I do the fingers. If I Paint My Fingernails and Toenails in Clear Nail Polish, will the be a red flag that I'm gay?
I do it, fingers and toes. Yes, it does make them shinier but I have alterior motives. I paint them in a clear coat because at times I have been known to be a nail biter. When I get nervous I do this. I have discovered when I put polish on though it detours me from such things.

Also I paint them black when I go to the dark bars. I like it, if its a good black polish. Not cheap stuff. LOLIf I Paint My Fingernails and Toenails in Clear Nail Polish, will the be a red flag that I'm gay?
I seem to get away with it. Ok, I'm not gay, but no one has ever mentioned or seems to have noticed it.

If it makes you feel good... why not ?
    Yes.
Yes, that is going to give out a gay vibe. If you care, then dont do it on your toes OR fingers. If you dont care, then go for it.
Who cares what they think its your choice not theirs, go for it
Yeah, there is always someone who might think that it is gay. I would go ahead and paint them, and if anyone asks, say you have a zinc deficiency that makes them brittle. The paint is actually a medication that makes them stronger. Have fun and don't worry about what others may think.
i think that if you are willing to paint your nails, they might be the last things that you need to worry about if you don't want people to know you're gay
Clear nail polish is the finishing touch on a ';by the book'; manicure and pedicure for a man. If you want your nails to look nice to you then do what you need. My brother in law gets his done when he gets manicures and pedicures and I would not want to be the one to call him gay.
my fingernails are painted a sheer light blue, my toenails a deep red, I'm not gay, just a straight cross dresser who likes pretty nails, i know regular straight guys who just like having pretty nails.
Yeah, but your nails will look hot and shiney, but it want stand out too much until it starts wearing off...Nothing wrong with a nice manicure, and also I think it makes your nails stronger and healthier.

How to remove runs from car paint clear coat / lacquer? Run razor or wet sand?

    Hi there,

today I painted and clear-coated my car's wheel arch after what seems like forever prepping and filling to remove rust.

However I was too enthusiastic with spraying the clear coat and I have a couple of runs in it.

What's the best way to remove the runs? I've heard of ';run razors';, but I don't know if the clear coat will have hardened too much to shave off by next weekend. How long do you have after spraying clear before it's too hard to shave?

I've also read that wet-sanding is the way to go, but I'm concerned that this will ruin the finish? Is it possible to restore the shine after wet-sanding clear coat?

Many thanks! How to remove runs from car paint clear coat / lacquer? Run razor or wet sand?
You are best using wet and dry papers, use one medium grade to take it down to level, a less abrasive one to remove abrasion marks then a very fine to finish. Follow this by buffing with a polishing compound followed by wax a shine. How to remove runs from car paint clear coat / lacquer? Run razor or wet sand?
it's very simple, and honestly you should do this after painting whole cars too, after you put the clear coat on you wet sand it. It helps drastically.
wet sand it and then wax it

Can you paint clear coat on bare alluminum?

I have a wheel that has some alluminum that originally had clear coat on it. It was just shiny alluminum with clear coat. It got some deep grooves in it that I knew I could sand out and polish back to good. I started with 400 grit, then 800 grit, then 1000 grit and finally polished with 2000 grit before painting with acryilic lacquer clear coat. I waited approximately two days before using rubbing compound to lightly buff and then a glaze to shine it when I noticed it was peeling my new clear coat back off.

Will the clear coat that I'm using not adhere to the bare alluminum or do I just need to stop at resanding with 1000 grit and try painting it again?

Thanks in advance!!Can you paint clear coat on bare alluminum?
Yes you can put clear coat on aluminum but do not use rubbing compound on the new clear coat. 1st sand the aluminum with 800 then 1000 grit, clean with soap and water, 2nd spay a good clear coat on allowing at least 10 minutes between coats, 3rd let dry you should have a shine that can't be beat. you should not have to sand the clear coat at all. use a polish compound if you have little imperfections in the clear but the rubbing compound is way to abrasives. Can you paint clear coat on bare alluminum?
That lacquer clear coat is pretty weak and should be applied extra thick to help it stick. It doesn't matter what grit the surface is prepared with because it needs more of a chemical bond than mechanical. The clear used on aluminum rims from the manufacturer is a two part urethane, the same as used on the outer body over the base color coat.Even that doesn't work that great over time,as you can see.

Clear coat on poly-urethane black paint?

I am getting my '90 Ford Ranger painted black. I prep'd it myself so I have money to spend on expensive paint. I think I'll be using a glossy poly-urethane black but I have heard that I don't need a clear coat over that paint. Is that true? Would the paint itself shine as much as a clear coat? I also live in the Texas sun, if that would affect the need for a clear coat. Thanks, I appreciate your time.Clear coat on poly-urethane black paint?
Poly-urethane is basically a plastic. Never having used it, I would paint a piece and leave it in the sun, just to see. Clear-coats can add a lot of depth, but I would experiment on that as well.

I paint bicycles, and when I want serious depth, I mix a tiny bit of clear with my base color and as the coats progress each shoot uses less color and more clear. If there is any Metallic in your black, the particles that make it Metallic become suspended with less and less density which makes for exteme luster and beauty.Clear coat on poly-urethane black paint?
I wouldn't use a clear coat if I were you. They fade obviously overtime especially over black paint.
ABSOLUTELY I WOULD CLEAR COAT THE COLOR COAT EVEN IF YOUR SHOOTING A GLOSS TOP COAT. NORMALLY ON TWO STAGE YOUR TOP COAT IS NOT SHINY .YOU WILL GET MORE SHINE WITH CLEAR. MAINTENANCE ON CLEAR IS EASIER .. ALSO THE UV FACTOR IN THE TEXAS SUN IS ANOTHER REASON TO CLEAR COAT. WHEN YOU WAX/POLISH CLEAR YOU DON'T GET ANY COLOR PIGMENT ON YOUR CLOTH.

Does anyone know of a clear flat surface (specific type of plastic?)that acrylic paint will peel off of?

Acrylic plexi will not work. I have used Polyethelene(shipping plastic) and Polypropylene(tupperware), but have been unable to locate flat clear sheets of either Can you suggest a supplier?Does anyone know of a clear flat surface (specific type of plastic?)that acrylic paint will peel off of?
Glass. Using plexi isn't good because it's a type of plastic and so is acrylic paint--they are going to want to bond to each other. Use glass.Does anyone know of a clear flat surface (specific type of plastic?)that acrylic paint will peel off of?
look in your yellow pages for plastic manufacturers,, you want to find a vacuum form molder, they will have sheets of various plastics,,, also there are several types of silicone sprays in the industry you could try to lightly spray onto your surfaces, some sprays are made to be non paintable (paint wont stick), some sprays are paintable ( paint will stick), have you tried glass?,
I have had some success with stencil plastic, but sometimes the edges get rough when I peel it off. Glass also works.

How do i make my picture clear on microsoft paint?

i have copied a picture on to paint but it comming up blurry how can i make it clearer? How do i make my picture clear on microsoft paint?
Microsoft Paint is the lower end of image software programs. I suggest that your try something a little better, like Adobe Photoshop or something along those lines. It costs money to buy it, but depending on how much you use it, it's definitely worth the price. And there is a free trial at their website.

http://www.adobe.com/products/photoshop/鈥?/a>How do i make my picture clear on microsoft paint?
was the original picture blurry? If so, ms paint has no function to make it less blurry.

Did you increase the size of the picture? There is now way to prevent a picture from looking worse (usually grainy, not blurry) as you make it larger.

Does MS paint work fine with other images?

If you got the picture from a website, please provide link to it so i can see whats up.

edit: if you dont want to pay for photoshop, google 'gimp'. Its not as powerful as PS but is much more powerful the paint and is free. I dont know if it will help your problem. Paint is low end, but i dont see why it would have any trouble with what your doing.

Well, either the booth wasn't over 70 degrees....or you didn't lay on enough paint to get a gloss, I'm assuming that you primered, sanded, and prep'd the surface properly before painting.

Kitchen floor tiles - is there a kind of clear varnish I could paint on them...?

The tiles are 'textured' and don't have the smooth finish of the bathroom tiles. The bathroom floor is so much easier to clean because of this!

Is there a product that I can use to give the kitchen the same finish as the bathroom tiles? Thus making cleaning the kitchen less stressful!

Many thanksKitchen floor tiles - is there a kind of clear varnish I could paint on them...?
If your tile is ceramic, and has a glaze to it, theres nothing that can be applied that will stick and hold . Sealers are meant for grout and unglazed stone and unglazed ceramic such as sattillo tiles. Now if you mean tile like vinyl tiles, yes there are products to use such as top coats that you use so your not walking directly on the tile. Being a kitchen, you may have worn off this layer because of extra mopping and foot traffic. Any flooring questions you can e mail me through my avatar and I ll be glad to help GLKitchen floor tiles - is there a kind of clear varnish I could paint on them...?
You need to seal them using a floor tile sealant which you brush/roll on

If you can, Take the plinths off the kitchen units so you can seal past them

    replace the plinths

Then seal round the plinths using a thin bead of clear kitchen sealant (don't use cheep mastic its no good)
    hey,

yeah this stuff is great and it can be used on all typesof tiles, its easy and no mess.

Can I Paint My Aluminum Rims with Only Black Spray Can And Add Clear With Out Primer?

want to paint them but wanted to know if you dont add primer will it lastCan I Paint My Aluminum Rims with Only Black Spray Can And Add Clear With Out Primer?
It is going to be difficult to get any paint to stick very long without primer. Even the primer is not going to stick very well without some good prep work, the aluminum is too slick. The wheels need to be washed really good first and then roughed up with a coarse Scotch-Brite pad, washed again, and completely dried before putting anything on.Can I Paint My Aluminum Rims with Only Black Spray Can And Add Clear With Out Primer?
You can't really paint Aluminum. I also suspect your rims will have a protective coating. You would need to completely remove the coating and then use a powder coat.
Yes you can paint without using a primer, but, the paint won't stay on very long. Use the primer, you'll be glad that you did.
If you don't mind it looking like crap I don't see a problem have your local car shop do it the paint will fall of within a month.
You'll have to sand the aluminum to roughen the surface, if its polished, the paint would not stick.
Yes you can! That would look dope!
it's not going to last and it will look like s**t.

What grit sand paper to wet sand paint before clear coat how long after i paint shold i do this i just painte?

about 4 hours ago paint was doneWhat grit sand paper to wet sand paint before clear coat how long after i paint shold i do this i just painte?
give the base time to cure, Over night is best when you color sand b4 clear. do a progressive sand starting with 600 then 1000 then 2000. just don't buff like you would for a completed paint job, do the same with the clear, but buff at the end.

although if you need to ask how its done, then you most likely don't have the experience necessary to do this in the first place. and I recommend taking it to a paint shop so you don't sand through the base accidentally. What grit sand paper to wet sand paint before clear coat how long after i paint shold i do this i just painte?
hit it hard with some 40 grit, then apply paint with a brush.
    let it dry overnight.

if you want a good finish go up to about 1600 grit.

    Id go like 600-800-1200-1600

if youre having to ask you probably arent going to get a very good finish though.

what paint do i use , what do i need to give it a hard wearing clear gloss.

any help would be greatHow do i paint plasitc and then clear gloss it ? what paint ?
Try 'Plastikote' available from places like B%26amp;Q (UK) which is ideal for this kind of application. You could also consider using car spray paint. How do i paint plasitc and then clear gloss it ? what paint ?
Make sure the item is clean and free of grease marks. You need to remove the shine from the plastic by either using very fine sandpaper or a liquid sander. Then use a primer specifically for plastics. If you don't do these two steps then the paint will not adhere properly on items that are being handled a lot. Acrylic paint is fine, but don't put it on too thick - do two or three coats rather than one thick one.
use artists acrylic paints, then as you say clear varnish them after, might need a couple of coats of varnish, my husband paints pebbles with local scenes and then varnishes them and people buy them as souveniers and put them in their gardens
i would look into airbrushing..about the only thing i can think of that would lay flat enough that it wouldnt bother you using the device and would stand up to handling
Krylon ';Fusion'; is made for plastic and is available @ Wallyworld.
Try tremclad available at all hardware stores.
go to a model toy shop ,the paints they use for say model aeroplanes would do

    Looking for a clear paint?

I am working on a project for a cookie exchange I do every year and need help. Each year a I give out a cute little item to thank everyone for coming. In the past I have made tea towels, stained glass ect. I usually buy the start of the project when the Christmas stuff goes on sale. This year I bought a bunch of red and blue and green and silver ornaments that I intend to write Christmas Cookie Exchange 2009 on in a dark color paint. Then I was thinking of taking the ornaments and dipping or painting them with a clear paint or glue of some kind and rolling them in glitter (not the cheap glitter but the chunky cute glitter. The glitter is all translucent and sparkly. I was wondering if anyone could suggest a glue or paint I can use to get the glitter to stick that won't hide the color of the ornament and not dull out the glitter. Any suggestions? Also I don't live in or around a large city or stuff at hobby lobby or michael's would be hard to get. something i could get at walmart or a local hardware store maybe. Thanks so much.Looking for a clear paint?
You should be able to find a spray on clear coat wherever you have access to spray paints (WalMart maybe, but definitely a local hardware store).Looking for a clear paint?
Spray on polyurethane. Available at any hardware store.
if your trying to make glitter stick to it you need to buy 3M SPRAY ADHESIVE you can buy that at walmart. they also sell clear spray paint with glitter already in it
You could use spray shellac in clear, fast drying %26amp; non toxic when dried.

I belive most them have a 100k warranty on paint. You might check that out Im not 100% certain. Also if you bought it used that might not apply. I would take it to the stealership and see what they say.

Candice you must not be familiar with the early 90's chevys. Specifically the beretta, the prob with the neons was the primer. I bet you drive a chevy though!
I didn't see a recall on the paint only certain engine cooling systems which can affect the engine.

You see this a lot especially on red or maroon colored cars but it is mainly due to inproper baking on of the color.

If you purchased it new, I would take it to the dealer and pitch a fit anyway. If you bought it used... I would probably do the same.

It is not ALT+F4, that exits the application.

    The correct shortcut is CONTROL+N.

    edit:

I doubled checked it on mine (MSpaint, W7 RC1), and it is Control + N.

Your other alternative is to press Control + A and then press the delete key.

I have an arbor longboard grip wearing thin in places, any clues how to buy clear paint on grip?

so i have an arbor board and if you don't know they use clear paint on grip so that you can still see the beautiful grain, and as is natural through use its wearing a little thin. the question is the store i bought the board doesn't sell the clear grip and no other shops i have found even sell arbor (price you pay for a beautiful board i guess), does anyone know how to get it? im considering ordering off the internet but its expensive so even shop prices for comparison would be great.I have an arbor longboard grip wearing thin in places, any clues how to buy clear paint on grip?
They do sell clear grip tape, and no Im not sure, but Im sure you can order it online like you said, or I do know that other longboards use that kind of grip too.

Painted metal with an industrial sprayer and the gloss paint isnt glossy at all. Do I need to add a clear coat

used PPG paint Pittburgh PaintPainted metal with an industrial sprayer and the gloss paint isnt glossy at all. Do I need to add a clear coat
I would apply another coat of the same paint. The temperature is important, too. Give it time to cure. The final sheen won't be seen immediately.Painted metal with an industrial sprayer and the gloss paint isnt glossy at all. Do I need to add a clear coat
Well, either the booth wasn't over 70 degrees....or you didn't lay on enough paint to get a gloss, I'm assuming that you primered, sanded, and prep'd the surface properly before painting.
Spray with a gloss sealant-clear coat!

  • Can I Paint My Aluminum Rims with Only Black Spray Can And Add Clear With Out Primer?

want to paint them but wanted to know if you dont add primer will it lastCan I Paint My Aluminum Rims with Only Black Spray Can And Add Clear With Out Primer?
That would look dope!
it's not going to last and it will look like s**t.

if you want your rims black have them powder

    coated
    that would look dope.....

How do I remove pine sap from my truck without damaging the paint, or the clear coat?

I have many drips of pine sap on my truck. They have been on it for a few weeks, in temperatures that have exceeded 100 degrees. How do I remove pine sap from my truck without damaging the paint, or the clear coat?
You could try WD 40 to remove it. I use it to remove tar on my truck and does not seem to harm the paint or clear coat.Good luckHow do I remove pine sap from my truck without damaging the paint, or the clear coat?
Use the (Turtle wax) Ice liquid clay bar then apply turtle wax Ice polish this will give you best results you can find both at www.Pimpmyaccord.com.
my buddy just told me this, but I can't rmember. Best advise is to call an autobody/paint shop (like my buddy) and ask them. He said something about a mild, alcohol-based detergent that you can get.

Mine was some juice stuff from a different kind of tree, thats why I cant remember what he said about pine sap.
Could also try clay bar. Thais is exactly why it's very important to keep a good coat of wax to protect the paint. It makes a big difference when trying to remove things like sap and tar. Whatever you try, make sure the surfance is cold so the sap can chip off instead of smearing.
Try WD 40. I've used it for removing tar and it worked great!

Polyurethane clear gloss over porch Enamel Paint?

I am getting different answers at the few stores we have here about using a polyurethane clear gloss that can be used over a painted wood porch. I used Dutch Boy Exterior/interior Enamel porch and deck paint. Just painted it. One tells me no Minwax, one said only use a brand called Zar, which no one has here, I looked on internet and the Zar is Really costly!! So far the only thing they all agree on is to wait 2-3 days after painted, then put on one coat of polyurethane, let dry, lightly sand it so the polyurethane has something to bond to, then wait 24 hours before doing a second coat. I was able to put 2 coats of the paint with a bit left over from one gallon. So I am hoping one gallon would do for 2 coats of the polyurethane. Any idea's from someone that had this kind of experience please. I am doing it for my dad and want it to turn out nice looking, but I can't afford $40.00 for Zar besides the fact that no-one has it. Thanking You In Advance.Polyurethane clear gloss over porch Enamel Paint?
There's no reason to apply polyurethane over enamel porch and deck paint. It probably won't adhere very well anyway.

The paint is a wood sealant - why seal the sealant?Polyurethane clear gloss over porch Enamel Paint?
what gypsy ca says - dont use it, if it doesnt flake, it WILL yellow over time.

also after a few months of walking on it, it will start to look like a dull scratched up mess. even marine topcoats wont help. any worthwhile porch floor paint is sufficient to withstand use.

also if your floor is the least bit damp the paint will bond then start to flake off. best time to do this is when it is hot and you know the surface is 100%dry.
I would strongly advise AGAINST applying polyurethane over enamel. A good-quality deck enamel shouldn't need anything else over it to protect it.

The polyurethane will eventually flake in the sun; sun is terrible for polyurethane. Then, instead of reapplying just the paint, you'll have to sand or strip off the old poly before you repaint, if it's ever necessary.

    Trust me on this one!

How hard would it be to paint a rear bumper cover by myself with clear coat and all.. where can i find info on

the exact color of my car?How hard would it be to paint a rear bumper cover by myself with clear coat and all.. where can i find info on
You might want to check with an auto body shop and have them do it. They have the paint booth, plus since you are painting a cover, it is flexible and needs special additives to the paint to help the paint stay flexible so it won't crack when it is moved.

At least take it and get an estimate on a professional job.How hard would it be to paint a rear bumper cover by myself with clear coat and all.. where can i find info on
For extra $ you can go to any auto body store with the paint code and get the paint in a spray. Most repair manuals have a section for body repair.

If it's new bumper, you Will need to send it and prime it if it's not primed yet. If it's already primed, you should send it using 600 grit send paper before you spray it. When spraying, do not insist in one spot. Make sure that there is no dust on the floor or on the bumper itself. If the floor is dirty get it wet. Also, there spray that you can find at wal-mart that helps the paint to stick to the plastic surface that you can use as most likely your paint will peel. It shouldn't be humid or cold when painting...80 degrees is ok!

    Good luck!
If it's not on the car yet, it's extremely easy. Mainly because you don't have to worry about oversrpay. You could buy cans of auto paint for about $4 each and have it done in no time. I know there is one brand of auto paint that makes colors amazingly close to the original, I just can't think of the name right now.

Hey,Nate. You must spend lots of cash at the paint store, huh?I own my own body shop.Any clear coat product I've seen uses a 4:1 ratio of clear/hardener.You can put a ruler into a container and divide the length by 5.Then pour in 4 parts clear and 1 part hardener.Or better yet use a measuring cup and pour in some amount of clear and 1/4 that amount of hardener.I know,it's confusing, just think about it before doing it.

How to remove clear coat from automobiles without hurting paint?

The clear coat is bonded to the color coat. If the clear coat is flaking you will have to sand the area without removing the base coat. You have to blend the new clear coat into the good clear coat thats left.

If it all bad you will have to do the whole car.

Paint Chips: Automobile paint will receive chips over time due to normal everyday driving. Southern Colors is able to repair the paint damage using its proprietary process. Keeping the painted finish free of chips will protect against rust, and improve the overall appearance of the automobile.

Clear coat scratches: These scratches are usually caused by simply sliding a box or briefcase off the surface of the car, dragging dirt across the finish, and putting minor scratches into the clear coat. Clear coat is a polyurethane, which like most plastics, will haze or turn white when disturbed. The best solution for repairing this type of damage is to cut the damage out of the clear coat through either high speed buffing or wet sanding and polishing. The scratch is Gone, not to return. No painting is required.

Heavier scratches: Scratches that are too deep to cut out will need to be touched up with the correct primer, base coat and clear coat. Touch up will not eliminate the damage, as a physical outline of the damage will always remain. Depending upon color, location and severity of damage, the outcome of the repair will vary. However, in most cases the repair provides a significant improvement to the painted finish.

Very heavy scratches: Scratches that have a scroll design (not a straight line) can only be marginally improved with touch up. Color plays the biggest role in the outcome of repair on this type of damage, but generally only marginal improvement can be expected. A full repaint of the damaged panels is the best solution to repairing the damage.

How long does the average car take to touch up?

Most repairs can be completed in an hour, while the customer waits. For larger jobs, the vehicles can be dropped off in the morning (or the night before) and picked up that same afternoon.

How do I know if I should have my car touched up or repainted?

Touch up is designed to improve the appearance of minor paint damage. If you wish the damage to completely go away, you should consider repainting (in a body shop). Southern Colors is very precise in describing the expected end result, so that the customer can make an informed decision on whether to touch up or repaint. How to remove clear coat from automobiles without hurting paint?

How to remove clear coat from automobiles without hurting paint?
It can't be done. The color under the clear is soft %26amp; has a dull finish, while the clear is very hard. There would also be adhesion problems if you were to re-clear over old basecoat.
Microfiber cloths are amazing and they may remove the spray paint and won't damage the auto paint.
Why in the world would you want to.... there are no chemicals made to do this, and mechanical means, a.k.a. sandpaper are not going to work either. Sand the clear down with 400 wet, and just reclear if you are having a problem. You really need to be more specific.
Why are you removing the clearcoat? Is it peeling up or coming loose? You will have to sand it off and you are going to take some of the color with it. Just bite the bullet and repaint it.

nope. The problem was that the surface had some dirt or grease or oil on it. Then it was painted over and now the paint did not adhere to the metal.

You have to go down to a good clean surface and repaint. good luck. The clear coat on my car is starting to bubble and peel. is there any way to fix it short of a new paint job?
Someone will have a miracle cure. But the truth is, there is nothing you can do. Don't wax the paint underneath the clearcoat, it might hold on to the wax and look chalky.
that's why you should wax your car every 6 months with a clear coat finish so that doesn't happen but there is nothing you can do but repaint

Help How Do I Paint Plastic Permanently? Like what is primer or clear coat?

    (its An Xbox 360)

the plastic is sorta amatte finsih and texturedHelp How Do I Paint Plastic Permanently? Like what is primer or clear coat?
You would need to sand the plastic , giving it a 'toothe' or a texture for paint to adhere to . Then you would wan tto use a primerk, which is a basecoat product to help paint stick and stay on surfaces. Next you would do your paint project and then afte rit has dried and cured well, you could put a clear coat on it. I would call a store where they specialize in models ( car, airplane..that sort of model...) and ask them about th exact paints you would want. You can get them there in small amounts and not have a bunch of stuff left over.

Does anything need to be added to Automotive Acrylic paint before spraying? And does it need clear coat?

you will need to add thinners. any auto store will provide you the correct type. most manufacturers will recommend a mix ratio of about 60% paint to 40% thinners, although that is a guide only. the best way to find the right mix is to use your gun and experiment on a spare panel etc. if the paint has not got pearl or mettallic in it, then it will not need a clear coat. hope this helps.Does anything need to be added to Automotive Acrylic paint before spraying? And does it need clear coat?
depends on if its base or single stage. base needs the right reducer and needs a clear coat. single stage just needs the right hardner and reducer.Does anything need to be added to Automotive Acrylic paint before spraying? And does it need clear coat?
    will need to be thinned

this makes it easier to spray..%26amp; gives a nice smooth finnish..
YES a ton of chemicals actually well not actually a ton but quite a few.... the right reducers.. fish eye removers.. anti orange peal additives etc etc etc.. thats why painters are painters .. its not as easy as you think.. a 5 point variance in ambient air temp an 2% humidity makes a big dif in the paint formula for auto... You do the wrong mix for the situation.. you may as well just use latex house paint and a roller.. cuz thats what its gonna look like anyway...

You dont have to clear coat though.. its not required but its not a bad Idea.. but thats usually poly urethane...

Yes you can - just make sure and cover up the feed tube in the magwell and don't spray into the barrel. If you spray in light coats, you won't have sticking switches, body pins etc. Failing that, you could take it apart and spray the parts individually.

However, under the terms of the Violent Crime Reduction Act, modifying an unrealistic imitation into a realistic imitation is counted as manufacturing a Realistic Imitation Firearm, which is illegal.

Now, there is a defence to that part of the law for legitimate airsofters which will legally allow you to make it realistic - read on mate! ;)

Unlike the part of the Act applying to the sale of imitation firearms, there is NO AGE LIMIT on the defence to the manufacturing part.

To qualify for the defence, you must be a legitimate skirmisher on a site with public liability insurance (as any and all official, organised sites in the UK have). Once you can prove that you're legit, then you can LEGALLY manufacture, sell and import realistic imitation firearms (though being under 18, you may have difficulty in importing them).

How to prove your legitimacy (without being UKARA registered)? Simple - keep a skirmish diary. Get a wee notebook, and every time you go to a game make a note of the date and site. Make sure and get it signed or stamped by a site official each time. there you go - instant proof that you're a regular player on official sites.

HM Customs accept this as proof of a defence for importing, so it will also be enough to satisfy any other authorities. Can you spray paint a clear/two toned airsoft gun?

I need to paint a section of glass a clear, even color. airbrushing enamel perhaps?

I need to spray a small section of glass for a project.

    The medium doesnt matter.

I was thinking using tinted nail polish, which is basically enamel, but I can clean the airbrush gun easily with Acetone afterwards...any advice?

I am new to all of this.I need to paint a section of glass a clear, even color. airbrushing enamel perhaps?
If you don鈥檛 like using tint of nail polish, try to use acrylic colors

But it is forced to wash with water immediately when color is not dry. After then you can use varnish spray to cover a layer outside

You are able to clean airbrush gun with Acetone after already finishing your works.

Besides, you can use Selen or Toluel (the homologous of Benzen).

Why is it that after I edit a document at PAINT then print, it doesn't look as clear as it should?

When I have to Modify a picture or document, I scan them in Jpeg then edit them with paint but noticed that without doing anything, if I print it looks fine but if I do anything and print it looses quality.

Is there any other way I can use to do this kind of modification by ensuring good quality? Why is it that after I edit a document at PAINT then print, it doesn't look as clear as it should?
Use a different program. Why is it that after I edit a document at PAINT then print, it doesn't look as clear as it should?
you should try photofiltre its free and its amazing!

you can do a lot more than paint
the reason it doesn't look clear anymore is it loses quality

to fix the problem dont use jpeg
Saving it as a PNG or copying it when your done and pasting it in microsoft word works as well ;D

If i am to paint my car with spray cans, should i use gloss then a clear spray?

my car is spray painted black but standard black... its slowly fading but would it come out alright if i go over it with gloss black then go over with the clear gloss/clear spray cans?If i am to paint my car with spray cans, should i use gloss then a clear spray?
theres no such thing as a standard black...you'd be surprised at how many blacks there are...have you tryed a proper ''buff'' up using G3 then T-CUT then a wax?...i advise that first...also if you paint a car with cans it will look naff, honestly. If i am to paint my car with spray cans, should i use gloss then a clear spray?
dont spray paint it, itll come out like s***. trust me. plus the spray will fade away quickly, even if it does come out well. its ok for touch ups, but if youre redoing your whole car, get professional quality automotive paint.

Im going to have a shot at painting my car, in what order do i apply paint. primer-basecoat - then clear?

ive read up about spray a car but they always lable basecoat (which i thought was the color) and clear coat ( clear shiny coat ) is this right. i need help, thanksIm going to have a shot at painting my car, in what order do i apply paint. primer-basecoat - then clear?
That's right, basecoat first then clearcoat. If you use a two step process. You can do it with a single stage, then you don't nead a clearcoat. Here are a couple links to Car Craft magazine that may help.Im going to have a shot at painting my car, in what order do i apply paint. primer-basecoat - then clear?
    Primer...Basecoat...Clear

they should strip it and redo the job, fish eyes are usually caused by silicone under the finish (poor prep work), spraying over them will insure that they will just keep coming back

In a paint store what exact paint can i ask for that will be the same as a perfectly clear blue sky?

say at mid day in summer . i want a brand of paint and the exact colour to ask for . i am in ontario canada. so we have lots of stores to pick from . homehardware. home depo . and others . thanksIn a paint store what exact paint can i ask for that will be the same as a perfectly clear blue sky?
The sky is many colors. It depends on the time of day and the latitude and air pollution and many other things. What is sky blue to you?

Colors are always seen in some sort of context. The context affects the perception we have of the color. No pigment will look the same in different contexts.

Go to the paint store and take the caps off the tubes and look at the color. Look at the dilution chart that shows how the color acts with white added.

Ultimately you will guess. In a paint store what exact paint can i ask for that will be the same as a perfectly clear blue sky?
cobalt blue with white works well.
Pick up a whole lot of blue paint chips and hold them up against the sky to compare.

You will quickly discover that there are an entire range of blues making up that perfectly clear sky. It's lighter and warmer near the horizon, darker and cooler straight overhead.

But I'm sure you'll find a shade that says ';clear sky blue'; to you. Then the nice folks at Home Depot will mix it for you, in any paint or finish you choose.
The color you are looking for is called Cerulean Blue (that's what writers and poets call the color sky you are describing). It is also a color of oil paint. I don't know if you'll find that word on any of the color chip strips, though.

Sherwin Williams has a color called ';Calypso'; which is the closest I could find.

    I hope I've helped.

Is it a bad idea to get a paint job without a clear coat?

Just sanding, primer, and base coat. Or is a clear coat really necessary???Is it a bad idea to get a paint job without a clear coat?
If it is a single stage paint no topcoat is needed.

If it is a basecoat-clearcoat, yes a clearcoat is needed. Is it a bad idea to get a paint job without a clear coat?
Without a clearcoat, it won't have the high gloss ';luster'; of an OEM finish.
    doesnt matter

Any spray enamel should be fine. Just be careful when you scrape your wax off not to be too enthusiastic so you don't scratch it.

    Does clear paint exist?

yes its called clear coatDoes clear paint exist?
    Varnish!!Does clear paint exist?
It does exist. It is called floating medium and it is made by Plaid. I get mine at walmart for about $3. I use it to mix with my acrylics to make them flow easier. It is paint without pigment.
It goes by the name of Varathane, or Clear Coat, or any of a number of products that are compatable with Acrylics %26amp; Oils.
    Yes it's known as varnish.
For artistic work they are called Gel mediums.

most brands like winsor and newton, liquitex, talens, etc sell them in different presentations like matt, gloss, for textures, etc.

you can add them to dilute your acrylics or to mix them with powder pigment.
Use varnish - can be clear gloss or matt - also with tints.
Precisely clear, no. Mostly? We call it acrylis, glass (which is a coating), shellac, varnish, . . Get the picture? Glad to be of help.
