Pinewood derby cars - do you put the decals under the clear paint finish or do the decals go over the finish?

curious if it's better to afix the decals and then apply the clear glossy paint finish or if you should first apply the clear glossy paint finish and then apply the decalsPinewood derby cars - do you put the decals under the clear paint finish or do the decals go over the finish?
Put the decals over the finish. I'm not sure the glossy paint would even stick to the decal.Pinewood derby cars - do you put the decals under the clear paint finish or do the decals go over the finish?
The decals go over the finish...LOL...he's right...the glear gloss won't stick and may even curl the decals. Have fun!
back when i was in the scout we drew graphics on the wood instead of useing decals and then put the clear over it to seal them in ...........but if you use the decals clear it first because 1. the paint wont stick to the decal. 2. the decal will peel or crack due to the chemicals in the clear .
